2011 KERRY GROUP RAS MUMHAN 4 Day International Cycle Race

Around the roads of Kerry, next week-end from Good Friday to Easter Monday.

The total distance for the 4 days is 491km, with 27 categorized climbs.

Over 150 Riders from Ireland, England, Wales, Isle of Man, Holland, France, Germany, Poland, & Slovakia, will face the starter for this prestigious race.

Stage 1.Good Friday April 22nd. �the Slide around Sliabh Luachra� This is the first visit to the East Kerry area.
The Ras will start at 4pm in Killorglin and after 105km and 3 climbs, taking the riders to
Killarney, on to Kilcummin, Gneeveguilla, Scartaglin, Castleisland, Firies, Milltown and back
To finish in Killorglin around 6.30pm.

Stage 2. Easter Saturday April 23rd. � The Dance around Dingle� (Damhsa an Daingean� This will be a big day for cycling in West Kerry.

The 130 km stage, which will include 4 climbs will start at 12 noon in Dingle and after a trip that goes to Ventry, Slea Head , Ballyferriter, over Mam na Gaoithe, back through Ventry, over to Murreigh, Feoghanagh, back through Dingle, onto Lispole , Annascaul and Camp before facing up to finish on top of Conor Pass, the only Category 1 Climb of the entire race.

A new dimension to the event will be the Inaugural � Etape Ras Mumhan�. This non-competitive event is for the Leisure and Sportive riders and will give them the first ever opportunity in Ireland to ride a classic stage of a major race , this starts at 8am in Dingle and will cover the full route of the
Stage .

Stage 3. Easter Sunday April 24th. � The Waltz around Waterville�
The stage has a 12 noon start in the South Kerry Town of Waterville and the leading riders are expected at the finish back in Waterville again at 3.40pm. The 142km route is the same as last year, taking in St. Finians Bay , Cahirsiveen, Dromid & Valentia Island, and 6 climbs along the way.

Stage 4. Easter Monday April 25th. � The Puck Fair Polke�
This stage is also the same as last year. After 2 laps of the Killorglin, Fossa, Milltown circuit, with 2 climbs on each lap, the riders will go on to the Donal McKenna circuit for 10 laps ,which will take them up the famous Hill in the town centre each Time, a total of 115km. There is a cat 4 climb at the line each time which will keep the KOM title up for grabs right to the finish.

Woulter Haan, Ruiter Holland Team, who was 7th overall last year

Tino Haakman , West Frisia Holland Team , 10th overall last year.

Andrew Roche, Isle of Man , 4th overall last year, a former FBD Ras winner

David Williams, England who is a stage winner in the FBD Ras in the past

Paul Griffin Earl of Desmond Tralee , has finished 2nd & 3rd overall in this race in the past.

Sean Lacey, another Tralee man riding in the colours of the EDGE team from Cork , winner of National Classic League last year.

Neil Delahye, Dubliner who won the Waterrville stage last year & 3rd overall .

David Brennan, Castlebar , has continental experience

Timmy Barry, Corkman who won last year, and had a big win in Cork City last Sunday to underline his form.

Paudie O'Brien. Kanturk man who has been on the Sean Kelly/An Post team for the last few years & will be one of the favourites to take the title.

Mark Power, Waterford had a big win in Dublin recently.

Mark Dowling, Dublin, son of Boxing legend Mick Dowling rode very well here last year.

Ryan Sherlock. Dublin, National Hill Climb Champion & winner of the KOM Title here in 2010.

Daniel Clifford from Killorglin who now rides with the ne Tema Sportactive squad.

Martin O'Loughlin Carrick , who is a stage winner in the last visit to the Dingle area.

There are 3 other previous winners of the race in the line up, Stephen O'Sullivan, Eugene Moriarty and John Dempsey.
