As a result of the trials for Leinster teams being held this Saturday, Laois Cycling & Touring Club intend to hold their previously planned leisure cycle for Saturday 19th on Sunday 20th.

On Sunday February 20th, LCTC will be hosting a leisure cycle around Laois. This will consist of a 40 mile or a 70 mile spin. Sign on is at the Portlaoise Rugby Club in Togher (1.5 miles from Portlaoise town, on the Cork road) with a start time of 11am. A high turnout is expected as the cycle is one week before the competitive season kicks off. Also, the spin covers much of the route which will be used for stages 5 & 6 of this years Ras. Some of those competing in the Ras are expected to travel to check out the roads. The route is as follows:

40 mile circuit - Portlaoise, Ballyroan, Abbeyleix, Spink, The Swan, Newtown. At Newtown, the 40 mile circuit turns left to Pedigree Corner, Stradbally, Portlaoise.

70 mile circuit - Portlaoise Ballyroan, Abbeyleix, Spink, The Swan, Newtown. At Newtown, the 70 mile circuit turns right for Castlecomer, Ballragget, Attangh, Abbeyleix, Ballyroan, Portlaoise.
