The Irish Paracycling Squad showed that their preparations for next month’s Road World Cup are on target by putting in strong performance at their final preparation at the UCI P1 race in Belgium over the weekend.

Handcyclist Mark Rohan took the overall H1 Title when he followed up his win in Saturday’s Time Trial by winning the sprint in Sunday’s Road Race to take 1st overall in the General Classification.

Female Tandem pairing of Catherine Walsh and Fran Meehan also took first place in General Classification with a win in Saturday’s Time Trial and second place in yesterday’s the Road Race.

Cathal Miller followed up his 2nd place finish in the Time Trial with another 2nd place in the Road Race to secure a fine 2nd overall in the C5 General Classification.

Both Colin Lynch in the C2 category and Enda Smyth in the C3 category finished in 3rd position in GC. Male Tandem pairing of James Brown and Damien Shaw finished in 4th place in the Male B competition.

Great performances all round and a good boost for the squad as they put their final touches to their preparation for the UCI Paracycling Road World Championships in Denmark in 3 weeks’ time. In addition a lot of additional Ranking Points have been secured towards qualification for next year’s Paralympic Games in London.
