Some pictures from the event taken by Peter Purfield

The Christy McManus race caters for all seniors except for A1 (1st Cats), The race is approx 80k in distance - this is the A4 group who started first

Followed by the A3 group

And the A2 scratch group

After about 10k three riders leave the A3 group and cross to the leading A4 group

A few kms later, two of the original three forge ahead with one other from the A4 group

The rest of the A4 group

The A3 group

And the A2 group is not making much progress

The three leaders at 30k

The second group on the road

the next group back

And the scratch group has split

The leaders looking good at 40k

The A3 and A4 groups have joined up

The Scratch group is still a long way back

At 60k the second group is 1' 40" down on the three leaders

The scratch is at 2 minutes

There are now two leaders going onto the last lap with just 10k to go

The chase is on behind


The large group lined out

100m to go, the two leaders have held of the chasers

Its a close finish and Damien Barry (Blarney CC) pips Derek Cunningham (Bray Wheelers CC) to win
