Action from the fourth round of the Cross-country National Series
The Cross-country National Series (National Points Series) comes to a close this weekend with the fifth and final round taking place in Bree Hill, Co. Wexford.
Bree MTB will once again play host after a successful running of the event in 2022 in what will serve as the last big opportunity for riders to squeeze in race time ahead of the National Championships.
And an exciting course awaits riders as the host club make some tweaks to the 2022 course design, with only the main climb and run-in to the finish remaining the same, riders will take on a technical but enjoyable course.
It's been a competitive National Series this season with multiple different winners emerging across the four previous rounds, and with riders' best four from five rounds counting towards their overall score, many of the categories remain undecided ahead of Sunday's action.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of round five of the Cross-country National Series:
Round Four Recap
Robin Seymour and Ciara MacManus topped the podium after a great day of racing at the fourth round of the Cross-country National Series on Sunday, June 18th.
Hosted by Team WORC, the penultimate round of the series proved to be a challenge as riders navigated their way around a technical course in Co. Wicklow.
Local rider, Robin Seymour held off tough competition in the men’s senior 1 race to claim his third victory in the series. Little separated runner up David Montgomery and Seymour in the opening lap before Seymour opened up a gap on the second and maintained his lead right to the finish.
Gareth McKee rounded off the podium ahead of hosting team rider Daniel Brickenden who got off to a great start but couldn’t hold onto his lead.
Ciara McManus took her first win in the series on Sunday, after a second-place finish in round three in Killarney. Joanna Bula finished in second place with Leah McCarthy in third.

"Bree MTB are pumped to welcome the National Points Series (National Series) back to our little hill. Feedback was very positive from our first ever cross-country race in 2022, but we’ve made some changes for this year to add some distance, a few new technical climbs and a really fun descent. We’re sure it’ll be a big hit with all the riders. Roll on the weekend!â€
