THREE INTERNATIONAL PODIUM FINISHES FOR THE MONT-SAINTE-ANNE MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD CUP ORGANIZED BY GESTEV

Quebec City, November XXX, 2009 - With the mountain bike season now behind us for another season, it's time to look back and take stock. Every year UCI, the International Cycling Union, asks racers, teams, journalists, sponsors, and UCI members to vote for their favorite events of the season. Mont-Sainte-Anne and Gestev were voted tops for the 4-Cross World Cup and came in third for the Downhill and Cross-Country World Cups! That's great news as we prepare to host the UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships in September 2010.

FIRST PLACE: 4-CROSS WORLD CUP!

The new course at Mont-Sainte-Anne came as a pleasant surprise to many in 2009 and it quickly became a favorite on the UCI World Cup circuit. Gestev was well aware that the old 4-Cross course wasn't quite up to scratch for the World Championships and invested in infrastructure to create a brand-new course. It seems that the changes were well worth it!

1 Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada
2 Schladming, Austria
3 Fort William, United Kingdom

THIRD PLACE: DOWNHILL AND CROSS-COUNTRY WORLD CUPS!

Gestev also took third place for its Downhill and Cross-Country courses.

UCI DOWNHILL WORLD CUP

1 La Bresse, France
2 Fort William, United Kingdom
3 Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada

UCI CROSS-COUNTRY WORLD CUP

1 Offenburg, Germany
2 Houffalize, Belgium
3 Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada

"We're very proud of the news," said Gestev vice president Chantal Lachance. "We already knew our event was popular, but this vote only goes to prove it. To see that our courses are up to standard and to be the only event to have three podium finishes will give us confidence with the World Championships at Mont-Sainte-Anne just around the corner in September 2010."

"With one trophy and two third-place finishes, Mont-Sainte-Anne has clearly come out on top of the vote, which bodes well for the upcoming World Championships," reads the UCI website.

Each World Cup discipline (Downhill, Cross-Country, and 4-Cross) has eight stages across Europe, Africa, and North America. In 2009, Pietermaritzburg (South Africa), Mont-Sainte-Anne (Canada), Bromont (Canada), and Schladming (Austria) hosted three disciplines, while Offenburg (Germany), Houffalize (Belgium), La Bresse (France), Vallnord (Andorra), Madrid (Spain), Fort William (United Kingdom), Maribor (Slovenia), and Champery (Switzerland) each held at least one race.

THE ROAD TO 2010! The UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships will be held at Mont-Sainte-Anne from August 30 to September 5, 2010. Over 850 athletes from some 50 countries will take part in an event that is twice as big as the World Cup. The 2010 UCI Mountain Bike and Trials World Championships are organized for Corporation de la Coupe du Monde de velo de montagne Mont-Sainte-Anne by GESTEV INC.
