Cloon Wood, Sunday 8th February 2009

The third round of the Irish Winter League, will be held by EPIC MTB on Sunday 8th of February, two weeks after the second round at Ballinascorney. Cloon is an old favourite at this stage having held numerous races over the past few years.

Track Description:

We will be using the main track much of which has featured in NPS's in the past. We will be starting at the wooden start ramp, the first half is as it was before, that is quick techniqual riding, plenty of roots and stumps, berms, rock gardens, three nice jumps is a row and plenty of line choice. The bottom half has been resurrected after last years felling. It now open, fast, plenty of roots and stumps with the odd jump thrown in for good measure with a nice kicker just before the finish line. For the average rider it will take about 1:30 to get down.

There are no gaps, you can roll off all the jumps at walking pace, and if you still don't fancy that they all have quick chicken runs. Its completely rideable for any level of rider, and any type of bike, its all down to how quick you can do it. The course will be marked on Saturday night, but there are only two sections where the tape will impact line choice (straights where the natural line is just too easy), everywhere else it will be marked wide with plenty of options.

We have also always had parking issues at Cloon, so on race day their will be no parking on the street, all vehicles must park inside the forest. The will be marshals controlling traffic on the day, please ensure to follow instructions. While everyone likes to have their easy-ups in a convenient place, they cannot be accommodated near the entrance to the forest, please find a spot further up the hill, it a big mountain, I am sure you can find a spot with a nice view.
