This was the second official mountain bike race in Ireland. It was held in Kilworth forest outside Fermoy in Co. Cork in November 1990. The event was organised by Paul Tansey and sponsored by Raleigh Ireland.
The course was designed and marked out by John Cotter (Kilworth) and Eddie Beechnore Collins (Cork), the riders would complete six laps of a 4 mile course with an average lap time of 21 minutes for the leaders.
The entries included both road and mountain bike riders, top road riders were there, including John Sheehan, Richie McCauley, Eddie McMahon and Declan Byrne. This was also the chance for up and coming mountainbikers to shine, Rory Walsh, Robin Seymour and Joe McCall came to the fore.
