The annual Stamullen GP was one of the classics of the Irish cycle racing calendar. Gabriel Howard took over Stamullen village for a weekend full of cycle racing. All age groups were catered for, with super prizes and tea and sandwiches for everyone after the races.

Sadly, Gabriel tragically died in 2018, cycling in the village has never be the same since. 'Gaybo' as he was known is buried in the village cemetery overlooking the road only 100 metres from the race finish line. If your cycling through the village, by give him a salute when passing. He is truly one of the great volunteers of the sport.

In 2023 his wife, Kay, family and friends erected a plaque in the village to honour the great contribution he gave to the sport of cycling.

The video here, I captured is the 2001 edition of the Stamullen GP, with cycling legend Mark Scanlon winning in beautiful sunshine, it was a fabulous event. One of the many races in the village.
