on Sunday, 4th of August.
Although conditions were dry for practice on Saturday, changeable weather for racing on Sunday made the five stages a challenge for riders.
Leah Maunsell added a 10th Enduro National Championship title to her tally, leaving her with the 2024 Enduro and Downhill double. She finished Sunday’s racing with a total time of 00:15:19 across the five stages.
Maunsell finished 19 seconds ahead of Gortin’s Hannah Mullin, who also finished runner up in the recent Downhill National Championship. Blaithin Sweeney from Limerick Mountain Bike Club rounded out the Women’s podium with an overall time of 00:16:02.
Greg Callaghan claimed top spot again in the Senior category. The UCI EDR World Cup regular was quickest on the day with an overall time of 00:11:49. Two stage wins on the day were not quite enough for second place Kelan Grant, who trailed Callaghan by just 5 seconds overall. Gary Donaldson from Team Caldwell Cycles saw his consistency pay off, as finishing third on each stage saw him fill the third spot on the overall podium.
Recent Junior Downhill National Champion Callum Morris added an Under 21 Enduro National Championship title to his 2024 tally, with an overall time of 00:12:37. Just 12 seconds separated second place EPIC rider Brendan Conroy from IMBRC’s Jake White in third.
The Junior Category, for 14-16 year olds saw Aaron Meredith beat out two GAP riders in Michal Michniacki and Freddie Connolly.
The Master category was won by James Mac Ferran of Cycleology. He beat Steven Smyth by less than a second overall. Team WORC’s Gavin O’Connell rounded out the podium.
The Veteran Championship saw Gravity BC’s Sean Herlihy take the jersey, followed by Andy Yoong in second and Zero Gravity Mountain Biking rider John Lawlor in third.
Joe Ward came away with the win in the Super Veteran class. He beat Stanley Callaghan, father of Senior winner Greg, in second, and Cuchulainn’s Glenn Finnegan in third.
First Tracks also ran several non-championship events on the day.
The Challenger 14+ (non-championship) win was taken by Cahir’s Agris Kramis ahead of Jack Farrell and Gravity BC’s Craig Elliott.
The Challenger Youth Category was won by Belfast City BMX Club’s Jamie Harron. Oran Finlay followed closely in second, with Fionn Cummins Patton from IMBRC rounding out the podium.
The E-bike Category was won by Calum Mackie. Chris Mallon finished second and was followed closely by Mark Maxwell in third.
The Enduro Open category saw several overseas riders take to the Ravensdale trails. The category was still won by an Irish rider in Xavier Arnold, however, Arnold was followed closely by Australian Kai Pyyvaara in second and Jamie Mottram of GB in third.
The Women’s Enduro Open was won by un-attached rider Audrey Gianotti.
Brian Hutchinson finished top of the podium in the Hardtail category. He was joined by Oran McCandless in second and Gancho Todorov in third.
The Sunday only non-championship race was won by James Fleming ahead of Lisburn BMX rider Cailan Lancashire in second, with Martin Butterly rounding out the podium.
