With only 25m to go some riders fall in the sprint to the line
Junior rider David Fitzsimons (Murphy Surveyors) wins
Randall Burke (Usher IRC) crashed heavily in the sprint to the finish and suffered serious injuries to his face which required the attention of the Ambulance personnel and another cyclist who was in the race and happened to be a paramedic. Order of Malta Ambulance personnel treated Burke on the road for some time and he required the use of a defibrillator. He was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital where he was kept overnight for observation. - Having been at the finish myself it was a bad fall, nobody likes to see that happen. Thankfully everyone will be OK other than cuts and bruises - We wish Randall and the others that fell a speedy recovery.
