The 2025 road racing season gets underway this weekend with the first National Grade Event, as Navan RC host the Seamus Kennedy Memorial in Navan, Co. Meath.

Race HQ and the start will be at Navan Racecourse, but the finish will be Wilkinstown Community Centre.

As with the new National Grade Events for 2025, there will be three separate races for C1, C2 and C3 riders, as well as a Women’s race. C1 riders will tackle a 114km course, while C2, C3 and the women’s field will take on 76km.

The course is available for view - click here

Sign on at Navan Racecourse is from 9.30am, with racing starting at 11.30am, with each race starting at five-minute intervals. All races will be neutralised for the first 2km with a rolling start thereafter.

This race will also feature chip timing, and every rider is reminded they must collect their chip at sign on and return their chip after the race.

2024 saw the National Series take in six rounds, after which Olympic medallist Annalise Murphy and Daire Feeley took the women’s and open competitions respectively. This year however will see a change to the structure of national events, meaning 17 events will feature on the National Grade calendar, with each event having races for C1, C2 and C3 riders, with many also featuring a women’s race.
