The document has been put together with the intention of identifying opportunities for the development and encouragement of youth participation in cycling, laying out the next steps needed and actioning those steps. It is intended that the steps laid out in this document will help drive participation in all disciplines on the island of Ireland.

The document highlights ten key recommendations to help drive participation numbers.

Cycling Ireland Participation Manager Paul Norton said: "The Youth Working Group, which comprises of the Regional Development Officers and volunteers representing all 4 provinces, have worked together to create 10 recommendations and action points. These will aim to tackle the issues of low numbers of youth members and to help create more opportunities for young people to participate and compete in all disciplines of our sport. I want to publicly acknowledge and commend the efforts of the Youth Working Group members for their input in creating these recommendations and as a group, we will endeavour to put these recommendations into action."

Cycling Ireland CEO James Quilligan said: “The development of youth cycling is a vital goal as laid out in our new Strategic Plan. I welcome the recommendations from the Working Group, and look forward to supporting the implementation of their recommendations. I would like to acknowledge and thank all who contributed to this group, especially the volunteers.”
