The final round of the Kearney Cycles Connacht Mountain Bike League was held in Tourmakeady Co.Mayo on Sunday last. Good weather conditions prevailed but the downside was the amount of participants. Thankfully for those who attended a good time was had by all and the course set by Padraic Marrey Western Lakes was a sporting one.
The expert winner on the day was Brian O'Donnell Westcoast Wheelers, Padraic Conway Covey Wheelers Westport Cycling Club was the vet winner and Sadhbh Baxter was the ladies Winner.
The sports section was a very strong win for Ronan O'Flynn U/A who lapped the course in 44.40 giving a average of 8.8 mins per lap Ronan has improved greatly during the series and should go on to do very well on the mountain bike scene during the season.
Nick Duckett Covey Wheelers Westport Cycling Club won the Novice section. William Sheridan Covey Wheelers Westport Cycling Club was the Junior winner.
Brendan Scullion Western Lakes put in his usual strong performance to take the under 16 race from Darragh Reidy Covey Wheelers Westport Cycling Club. Shane Mulchrone Covey Wheelers Westport Cycling Club was the winner of the under 14 section from Frank Finnerty Western Lakes and Philip Comerford U/A in joint second.
Edel Burke Innishfree took the under 12 ladies and Mark Finnerty Western Lakes took the boys under 12 from Niall Hughes Western Lakes Andrea Burke Innishfree took the under 10 ladies
