There is a good programme of midweek races on, starting with the Stephen Roche GP, Cycleways Track League and Newtownards Town Centre races on tonight.

The Stephen Roche GP will take place in Meadowmount, near Roche’s childhood home, which is off Barton Road East between Dundrum and Nutgrove. Sign on is at the old Dundrum Shopping Centre from 6.30 am, with racing due to start at 7.45. A good prizelist is expected. Contact Aidan Hammond on 087 9881511 for more details.

The latest round of the Sundrive Cycleways Track League starts at 7 pm tonight and caters for all categories. Turn up at the Eamonn Ceannt Park, Sundrive Road, Dublin 12 for 6.30pm sign-on. Some track bikes are available.

Town Centre Races for all categories will take place in Newtownards tonight, starting at 7 pm. Down South, the Cork County RR championships will be held this evening at 7.30 pm; contact Micheal O'Connor on 025-32391 for details.

On Friday, two events of note are taking place. The Mizen to Malin 24 hour Elite Cycle will see a group of riders attempt to do the distance in 24 hours and is a brave endeavour. Funds raised will go towards the NCBI / Blazing Saddles and Temple Street Children’s Hospital.

Finally, the Newry Wheelers Three Day for second and third category seniors, juniors, veterans and women will start at 7 pm in Warrenpoint.

More details of this event and other forthcoming races can be found in the Fixtures and Calendar sections of this website. Details of the track training days in Manchester Velodrome are also listed there.
