Cycling in north Dublin has lost one of it's greatest stalwarts in the passing of Oliver McKenna yesterday. A life long member of the Balbriggan Cycling Club, Oliver was a true gentleman who worked tirelessly for the sport.

He was the key figure in the many cycling events that took place in the Balbriggan area, he organised great races like the 'Harry Reynolds' and the 'Ben McKenna' memorials. He worked on organising team of the Ras Tailteann for many years, but he always was on hand to help with the running of the Balbriggan cycling club, where he help many newcomers and seasoned cyclists over the years.

A true friend of cycling - May he rest in peace.
