3. GC: How did you get started in cycling?

    DMcC: Riding to school.

4. GC:  What was your first win?

    DMcC: 3- legged race championship.

5. GC: How often do you train?

    DMcC: Most of the time. Too often. I’m learning to focus more on quality than quantity.

6. GC: Favourite training spin?

    DMcC: Impossible to choose. I make a point of enjoying every one. I miss the anaerobic threshold sessions, I used to do bit and bit with (my brother) Cormac and team time trialling, I loved that.

7. GC: Best result / performance to date?

    DMcC: Result  ; 4th in the 97 Ruben Granitier Breton. Performance; Winning the 97 West Down Grand Prix.

8. GC: Ambition in cycling?

    DMcC: To continue learning and maybe teaching or coaching.

9. GC: Favourite professional cyclist?

    DMcC: Ciaran Power.

10. GC: Pet hates?

      DMcC: Riders who shout and get angry in my group. Riders who think that their opposition should be helping them rather than sitting on them. I find that amusing more than I hate it.

11. GC: How do you relax?

      DMcC: Cycling and racing primarily, but anything physical really. Walking, swimming. Staying still makes me tense.

12. GC: Do you think 3rd Cats should be re-introduced?

      DMcC: Yes. It’s vital to enjoy racing, and people enjoy racing with others of similar ability. There’s too big a difference in ability for onlt 2 categories, regardless of the number of riders.

13. GC: Apart from Ireland, where have you raced?

      DMcC: Everywhere , Brittany had the best racing..

14. GC: Who will be the next Irish rider to win a Tour De France stage?

      DMcC: Ciaran  Power could be.

15. GC: Favourite race?

      DMcC: The Shay Elliott or maybe the West Down Grand Prix.

16. GC: Best rider you have raced against?

      DMcC: Indurain.

17. GC. Have you tried mountainbiking?

      DMcC; Not competitively, yet.

18. GC:What makes you a good cyclist?

      DMcC: Desiring to be a good cyclist

19. GC: Would you let your kids take up the sport?

      DMcC: I’m sure I couldn’t stop them, I can’t think why I would want to..

20. GC: Describe yourself in one sentence?

      DMcC: I don’t know myself well enough .
