3. GC: How did you get started in cycling?

    DM:  I went on a bike tour in 1992.

4. GC:  What was your first win?

    DM:  New York State championships 1993.

5. GC: How often do you train?

    DM:  Every day / 20 hours a week

6. GC: Favourite training spin?

    DM:  From New York City over George Washington Bridge, north to Nyacle for a muffin at the Principle Spoon, round trip 55 miles.

7. GC: Best result / performance to date?

    DM: 4^th world B championships, Uruguay 1999, World Masters road champion 1997

8. GC: Ambition in cycling?

    DM; Made it! (Olympics).

9. GC: Favourite professional cyclist?

    DM:  Clara Hughes, Canadian double Olympic bronze..

10. GC: Pet hates?

      DM:  Half wheelers

11. GC: How do you relax?

      DM:  I meditate.

12. GC: Do you think 3^rd Cats should be re-introduced?

      DM: What’s a third cat?

13. GC: Apart from Ireland, where have you raced?

      DM: Spain, England, USA, Canada, South America.

14. GC: Who will be the next Irish rider to win a Tour De France stage?

      DM: No idea.

15. GC: Favourite race?

      DM: World Cup in Philadelphia.

16. GC: Best rider you have raced against?

      DM: Jeannie Longo.

17. GC. Have you tried mountainbiking?

      DM; I have raced mountain bikes.

18. GC: What makes you a good cyclist?

      DM: Persistence and desire

19. GC: Would you let your kids take up the sport?

      DM;  Sure!
