3. GC: How did you get started in cycling? 

PJ: Rory Collins gave me a bike to go a league race and after I was finished he used it. 

4. GC: What was your first win?

PJ: Some Navan Road Club league race.

5. GC: How often do you train?

PJ Once every month. (laughs.)

6. GC: Favourite training spin?

PJ: Whenever I get fit, I like to try and do 100 miles. It takes me about 9 hours, I stop in about four shops along the way, that sort of thing

7.GC: Best result / performance to date?

PJ: I beat the world champion in a Points race in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania, that was good.

8. GC: Ambition in cycling?

PJ: To turn the Irish Cycling Federation into one of the main sporting bodies in the country.

9. GC: Favourite professional cyclist?

PJ: Sean Kelly

10. GC: Pet hates?

PJ: People who tell you they’ll do something and you find out three weeks later that they haven’t.

11. GC: How do you relax?

PJ: This is a family column!

12. GC: Do you think 3rd Cats should be re-introduced?

PJ: I think in some form they will be re-introduced, sooner rather than later..

13. GC: Apart from Ireland, where have you raced?

PJ: Belgium, Holland , France England and America

14. GC: Who will be the next Irish rider to win a Tour De France stage?

PJ: Ciaran Power

15. GC: Favourite race?

PJ: I suppose the Navan Road Club league races.

16. GC: Best rider you have raced against?

PJ: Stephen Roche

17. GC. Have you tried mountainbiking?

PJ: Yes

18. GC: What makes you a good cyclist?

PJ: Persistence.

19. GC: Would you let your kids take up the sport?

PJ: Ehh, yeah.

20. GC: Describe yourself in one sentence?

PJ; Overweight and underfunded !
