Leinster league Round 1 at Narraghmore, Kilcullen 30 miles: (Mar 2) There was a 100 starters and there was 3 groups. The first group of about 35 consisted of 3rds,jun,women and vets had about 4 mins on a group of 45 b's and they had another 3 minutes on 25 a's. It was 6 laps of a 5mile circuit. The circuit was draggy and the wind was not favourable on it. On the first lap David Byrne, Ian ormond, James Lawless and Anthony MacMahon broke away. These stayed away for the whole race with the exception of James Lawless who came back to the chasers with 3 laps to go. seconds. On the hill the last time Lawless jumped away
for 4th with Cruise beating Enriht for 5th. David Byrne
won the sprint up ahead from Ian Ormond and Anthony Mac
Mahon. The groups behind were all over the place as it
was very hard to organise a proper chase due to the
circuit. This was Byrne's first win as a senior and is 7
years since he raced last as an under 16, by the looks
of it he won't be a 3rd cat too long. Leinster
