RIDEON |
Belfast’s Glen Kinning took second place in the junior section of the MTB National Points Series event at Thetford at the weekend.
Having led the race for most of the first two laps, he eventually gave way to Simon Richardson to finish at 1 min 40 secs and gain a podium place. This was the first event in the national Series this year due to Foot and Mouth outbreak causing many race cancellations. In his interview, the winner paid tribute to Kinning’s consistent effort and determination over the 3-lap event.
This is 16 year-old Kinning’s third serious year of competition. He has been previously selected for the Irish National squad, culminating in a place in the World Championships event in Sierra Nevada, Spain last year. He completed the event but was unfortunate to puncture and rode the last 13km on a flat.
The next time he will be leaving his home in Castlereagh Belfast, will be on the 2nd June for the next counting event at Plymouth.
