Stage 4 - Black Bull, Dunsany, Athboy, Killucan, Summerhill, Dunboyne - 2nd June 2003

Other stages - Stage 1 Stage 3 Stage 4

Happy smiles as Fraser takes the jersey into the final stage

As they climb up from Black Bull 2 rider go clear

'Hi Mom' - or would that be 'Hi Jimmy'

And 102 takes up position at the rear

Now at Batterstown Anto Moran forces the pace

Yellow Jersey looks fine

What's this Lucan has taken over the rear forcing 102 to move - up?

Well Anto you have a breakaway

Two more riders jump across to the break - and who's that 2nd guy?

Well its full speed ahead in the break

Would believe 102 has made it from the back of the bunch to the back of the break

John Carroll leads the bunch

The break has about 20 seconds as they turn for Dunsany

Turning left in Dunsany

Careful there 102 don't strain yourself

The bunch at Dunsany 25 seconds down

A few more riders try to cross the gap to the break

The break is opening the gap - nearly a minute now

The chase group gets eaten up by the bunch

Terry Ferris has a go at getting out of the bunch

Yellow Jersey very prominent in the front of the bunch

Breakaway turning left in Athboy

The Bunch now over a minute behind

There may have been no pictures of the later part of the race as I got a puncture
on my motorbike in Athboy, Thanks to Mark Nestor's father I got it repaired
and rejoined the race to get complete coverage.

As I rejoin no. 98 here is crossing to the break - he is 2nd overall

Eoin Concanonn goes for it

John Carroll try to cross the gap with 3 others

These don't make it - but Concannon does

Balivor this way

Leaders in Balivor

Hardwick leads the bunch now less than a minute behind

Back with break 102 is minding the rear

The break is loosing ground

The bunch is in pursuit

The break is about to end after over 40 miles out front

The Yellow Jersey is doing most of the work

Their finally caught

And 102 returns to his position in the bunch

But back up front - more riders jump off the front

Five here and four ahead

Sean Bracken leads

These are the leaders as we head for Summerhill

These 2 groups about to join together

2 groups together as they turn left in Summerhill

The main bunch only about 15 seconds behind

The gap opening as they head back to Dunboyne

The gap is now 20 seconds

Only 10 miles to go

The bunch at 20 seconds

As they climb a small drag at Mullagh Cross Roads 2 go clear

Its Theo Hardwick and Sean Bracken leading with 15 seconds

Looks like the bunch are going to catch these

It's all go with these two at 4 miles to go -
Bracken only need 27 seconds to win the overall

Theo Hardwick wins the final stage - as he did last year

Lennie Kirk takes 3rd and Sean Lally 4th

But where is 102? - he not at the back!!
